“Glee” Is No Monkey on “Gorillaz” Back
The virtual band Gorillaz isn’t exactly going “Gaga” over the new musical inspired T.V. sensation “Glee.” Lead singer Damon Albarn has been quoted saying that he’s not interested in letting “Glee” do a “Gorillaz” episode and performing covers of their songs.”We wouldn’t let that happen,” Albarn said in an interview with The Associated Press. “And not that they’ve asked us because they haven’t, and now they definitely won’t,” he continued with a laugh. Gorillaz is best known for “Feel Good Inc.,” their Grammy winning song which features De La Soul. The group has released two platinum-selling albums, and their newest album “Plastic Beach” came out in March of 2010.
“Glee,” the Fox television musical series is about a high school glee club. The show has done episodes that have covered songs by many of today’s pop music icons such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Britney Spears.
Gorillaz kicked off the North American part of their “Escape to Plastic Beach” World Tour, earlier this month. Their animation, music and live performance give fans a pleasant surprise every time they get to hear and see them. In addition, according to multiple sources Pharrell William’s N.E.R.D has joined the “Plastic Beach” tour, making it a double whammy of musical creativeness and innovative performances.
